Exotics on the goLate 1969, BUD Holland B.V. is incorporated as the Dutch sales office of the Belgian company 'House of BUD SA', a joint venture of the German entrepreneur Fritz Valentin Marschall and the American company BUD Antle Inc. The name BUD is the nickname of one of its incorporators, Lester Victor (BUD) Antle. The BUD is still part of our company logo. The company is established on the premises of the former Delft vegetable auction centre in Den Hoorn, a small village near Delft, from where BUD Holland ships the imported products to wholesale companies in the Netherlands and abroad. In the early years, the company primarily focuses on importing iceberg lettuce and radishes from America, originating from BUD Antle Inc.'s fields in Salinas, California. After 1975, the company switches to the importation and exportation of exotic and off-season fruit and vegetable products. The innovative character of the company, its strict financial policy and its supreme care for quality contribute towards its success. Furthermore, the selection of top quality suppliers across the world, as well as its logistic expertise guarantee the delivery of fresh high quality products. This attention to quality and the strict delivery requirements BUD Holland enforces, are some of the reasons for moving to an ultra modern new facility at the 'Transportcentrum Westland' in Maasdijk in 1995. Because of expected future developments, it is decided in 1999 that this facility is too small to meet increasing customer demand. The decision is taken to extend the facilities with a temperature controlled 3,000 m² warehouse. This has as an added benefit that the level of attention paid to storage, shipment and freshness of products can be further increased. In its continuous drive to innovate its product range and customer service, BUD Holland decides to again extend the existing facilities and to invest in a state of the art small packaging department. This also made it possible to offer the carefully selected product range fit for immediate consumption.
