Walnuts are the fruits of the walnut tree, The fruit is surrounded by a hard bivalve shell. The taste of walnuts can be described as soft and slightly sweet. Note that you need a nutcracker to break the hard shell of the nut.
The walnut is originally from Persia. For a long time it was therefore also called “Persian nut”. The nut was brought to Greece from Persia and later spread throughout Europe by the Romans. Walnut have been eaten in Europe for over 2000 years.
