A review on the Fruit Logistica

3,077 exhibitors. 75,000 visitors. Airplanes, cars and busses full of enthusiastic fruit and vegetables and visitors from all over the world visit the Messe Berlin every year to provide themselves with an inspiration overdose, new contacts or to provide others with new ideas. This was the main approach of Bud Holland this year as well: inspiring. A huge range containing nothing but beautiful products; but where do you use white corn for? And what does Oca de Peru taste like?

And how to demonstrate this better than by having the audience taste? That is why we did not only take a part of our sales team with us this year, but also our home cook Jun. Jun cooked the most delicious dishes for our visitors: a Peruvian salad with white Choclo corn, Oca de Peru, limequats, Aji Amarillo chillies and a delicious dressing of tree ripened mango. He also cooked the traditional Peruvian drink “Chicha Morada” made from black corn. The various wok dishes made of Choi Sum, Mini Pak Choi, Shanghai Pak Choi and Edamame beans from our partner East4Fresh were also highly appreciated.

Of couse we also though of our less adventurous visitors. We do not want to brag, but rumous say that Bud has the best coffee of the Fruit Logistica… Our barista was ready to provide everyone with a delicious freshly brewed coffee, of course with the beans from Single Estate.

Exciting days for our partner East4Fresh too. They were nominated for the Innovation Award. With a gift package made from untreated wood witha fresh Wasabi rhyzome and a Wasabi grater, they were in the race to win the Innovation Award. And although the Wasabi Giftbox has not won, we can be extremely proud of this great achievement from a starting company like East4Fresh! The interest in this culinary Umami adventure was huge and there was a lot of grating and tasting!

We look back on a successful exhibition and are already thinking about new exotic ideas for next year! We will keep you posted!
